NYC New York Color Ultra Moist LipWear In Retro Red & Petal
London Drugs had a sale on NYC eye pencils, lipsticks and nail polish – all 99 cents. I picked up a couple lipsticks during their sale: New York Color Ultra Moist LipWear in Retro Red & Petal.
I had been looking for a really nice red colored lipstick for a while, but didn’t want to spend my money on MAC’s Ruby Woo or Russian Red since I’d only wear red lipstick maybe once a year.
I was looking for one with a high color pay-off, but a fairly neutral tone: not too blue based, and not too orange based. I think I found the perfect color in “Retro Red”. What does this ravishing NYC color look like? Think the ladies of “Mad Men” red. The color is super pigmented and matte, yet moisturizing at the same time, so it doesn’t dry out my lips. The lipstick lasts for quite a while considering it cost me less than a dollar.
Petal is a nice sheer pink color, although it can be a little frosty on my NW15 skin tone. I like to wear it with a beige Clinique lipgloss to tone down the frostiness. However, Petal is not as frosty as NYC’s Liquid Lip Shine in Sungold Pink. Again, their LipWears are very moisturizing which is a big plus for me. A lot of lipsticks tend to dry out my lips, but NYC’s don’t seem to.
What are your favorite red and pink lipsticks?
