A clean, smooth, smudge-free, and clump-free mascara application can be tricky, especially when you do not have a lot of time to apply your makeup in the mornings. Here are a few tips for a flawless mascara application:
Don’t Pump: What you’ve been told is true: pumping the mascara wand really does allow too much air into the tube, which dries out the product. Instead, try swirling the wand in the tube to grab enough product and then gently pull it out.- Don’t over load: If you load the brush with too much mascara, it builds up on the lashes too heavily and causes crazy clumping. To avoid the “Tammy Faye” look, wrap a tissue around the brush and gently pull off any excess mascara.
- Time to toss: Clumping and drying are also signs that your mascara may be past its prime. Mascara more than 3 months old needs to be tossed in the trash.
- Apply last: Always apply mascara AFTER applying eyeshadow and eyeliner. This ensures eyeshadow fallout doesn’t stick to your mascara, making your lashes appear clumpy.
