Is Pequi Oil The New Moroccan Oil For Your Hair?

What is Pequi Oil? Pequi is a Brazilian edible fruit (Caryocar brasiliense), sustainably harvested for its oil in the Amazon Rainforest. It is a pale yellow mesocarp oil often used in food, cosmetics, and medicine.

Sephora recently released Couture Colour Pequi Oil online and in-stores.  The treatment is rich in moisture-restoring antioxidants, Vitamins A and E and proteins to help you get softer and shinier locks.  Similar to Argan oil (Moroccan Oil) in that it is lightweight, fast-absorbing and strengthening, helping to seal the cuticle. The oil revives hair, making it softer and reducing frizz and flyaways. Those with color-treated strands will also reap brilliant benefits, as it protects color from fading and adds noticeable shine.

Similar in price to Moroccan Oil, Couture Colour’s Pequi Oil is $32 for a 2 oz. bottle.  Definitely worth the price if you want soft, smooth hair. Also, this may just be a good treatment to add to your beauty regimen, especially if deep conditioners don’t work for you, or if you need an extra product to help lock in moisture.

You can try it out a free sample here from Sephora.
