Bobbi Brown’s Black Velvet Makeover
For a night out at Skybar, I wanted a dark smoky eye look. I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to pop into my local Bobbi Brown store to have them do the new Black Velvet look on me. I always love getting my make up done at Bobbi Brown as they always do an amazing job and I get to find out about new make up I might want. This time was no exception, my make up artist Angel did a great job and I went home with some great new products.
She prepped my face with a Hydrating Gel creme that is my new best friend. As you might know from my Bobbi Brown foundation review I have really dry skin and not all foundations look good on my skin. This Hydrating Gel did a great job at moisturizing my face and is also a makeup base in one product. She also used an eye repair cream on my eyes to reduce the dark circles, too many late nights perhaps?
To help cover up the dark bags under my eyes further, she used a corrector followed by a creamy concealer that I loved and bought. The concealer is so cute, it comes in a little kit with a mirror and concealer at the top and powder with a puff on the bottom. Great for on the go touch ups.
Next Angel used a Bobbi Brown stick foundation in No.3 Beige which she matched to my skin. I was really amazed that she had no problems applying the foundation. I’m so use to make up artists having to reapply moisturizer after the foundation because my skin is so dry. I think the Hydrating Gel Cream really helped. She then dusted their Illuminating Bronzing Powder in Bali Brown on my cheeks and around my face followed by Shimmer Blush on my cheeks. The Bronzing Powder gave a nice shimmery finish to my face.

For my eyes she used an eye shadow in bone for the base followed by the Black Velvet Sparkle Eyeshadow which she used along my lash lines. The Black Velvet Eyeshadow is so nice, but they were all sold out since it was a limited edition from their latest collection. Then she used their Long Wear Gel Eyeliner in black. I really like gel eye liners as they don’t smudge like my pencil eyeliners so I picked this one up too. What I really liked is that she used their Natural Brow Shaper on my eye brows which is like a mascara for your eyebrows, it was so easy to put on and it looked great. I might pick this up next to replace the eyebrow powder I currently use.
And here is my final look. I really liked the more natural look of this makeup, I didn’t feel over made up, just the right amount of highlighting and enhancing in the right places.
